The lights dim, the audience chatter fades, and the curtains open on A Night at the Museum by Larrakeyah Primary. Our whole school production for 2022. This term, students are preparing for an exciting performance extravaganza coming in Term 3.

Every program at Larrakeyah Primary is designed to extend student learning and promote leadership and responsible citizenship. Leadership is about encouraging, motivating, and directing people to work together towards a goal – whether that be in a group of friends, a small team, or an entire organisation.

​This article demonstrates how special programs at Larrakeyah Primary enhance learning outcomes for students through integrating the practical application of skills from one subject in the real-world context of another.

​Physical health and fitness are an integral part of the curriculum. Through weekly physical education students develop physical literacy and a positive attitude to physical fitness. Beyond weekly classes, students have the opportunity to participate and compete in a number of inter and intra school sports days.

Speciality programs give our students unique opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom and develop invaluable skills and experiences that will serve them in future schooling, work, and life.

​Partnerships with international schools provide our students unique learning opportunities that encourage their development as global citizens. They also open the door to shared professional development for our teachers and innovations in school programs.

​Every year information communication technology (ICT) is becoming more ubiquitous in how we connect, work, and play. Equipping our teachers and students with the tools and training to utilise technology in lesson planning, lesson delivery, and student projects has been a major focus for our Innovation Focus Team.

In 2022 Larrakeyah Primary School was one of only three schools to be shortlisted in its category at The International School Awards and the only Australian school to be selected across all 13 award categories.

As the year draws to a close and our students and staff prepare for a well-earned holiday season, we’d like to take a minute to look back on 2021.
