During maths this week, Team 22 have been learning how to calculate the perimeter and area of regular and irregular shapes. We used Tangram pieces to trace regular shapes and then joined pieces together to create and trace irregular shapes. The next task was to measure the perimeters in millimetres and then to problem solve and calculate the areas using the correct formula.
Learning Intention:
We are learning to calculate the area and perimeter of two dimensional regular and irregular shapes.
Success Criteria:
- I can measure all side lengths to calculate the perimeter of my shapes within 3mm accuracy.
- I can use the correct formula to calculate the area of my traced triangles and rectangles.
- I can use the problem solving cycle to calculate the area of my traced irregular shapes.
