Personalised Learning: How Larrakeyah Primary is Improving Mathematics and Writing Outcomes

Powered by School Story

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving learning outcomes, we have developed a comprehensive school improvement agenda with a focus on mathematics and writing. Based on a personalised learning approach, we’re providing pathways for every student to learn successfully and achieve their full potential.

This year, our focus is on student learning targets, enabling and resourcing teachers, and running extracurricular programs to challenge and support students.

Students Setting Learning Goals

The foundation of our personalised learning approach lies in encouraging students to set learning goals for themselves. By identifying targets in mathematics and writing, students develop a sense of ownership over their education and are more motivated to succeed. This helps students engage in their learning and allows parents to stay informed about their child's progress.

Professional Learning for Teachers

To support our personalised learning approach, we provide professional learning opportunities for our teachers. These workshops and training sessions equip our teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to adjust their planning and teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student, regardless of their starting point or learning style.

Extending Student Learning

In addition to our focus on mathematics and writing, our extracurricular activities are designed to extend students' development. Our Robotics Program, for example, provides an engaging and challenging environment for high-achieving students to further develop their skills and abilities.

By offering diverse programs and activities, we ensure that every student at Larrakeyah Primary School has the opportunity to grow and excel.

Improving Student Outcomes

Personalised learning is at the centre of our School Improvement Agenda. By engaging students in their learning progress, providing professional learning for teachers, and offering a variety of extracurricular activities, we are working to ensure that each student achieves their full potential. As we continue to implement and refine our approach, we look forward to sharing our progress and celebrating the many successes of our students in mathematics, writing, and more.
