A Night at the Museum: 10 Years of Performing Arts at Larrakeyah Primary School
Music, drama, and dance harmonised as Larrakeyah Primary School students took to the stage and performed their rendition of A Night at the Museum at the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
On the night, students showcased their talents on the big stage and delivered a wonderful tale of the Larrakeyah Primary Museum’s night crew and the mysterious goings on after sunset. It was a spectacular evening enjoyed by all and, as the final curtain fell, our community watched a slideshow of the past year’s events and celebrated the achievements of our school.
10 years of performing arts
A Night at the Museum marks a decade of dedication to our arts programs. Since 2012, a highlight of our Performing Arts program has been the annual production or concert. As well as providing an entertaining evening for the school community, the performances exemplify the disciplines, skills, relationships, and awareness of body and movement that are core outcomes of the program.
A production like A Night at the Museum is only possible through the hard work and contribution of teachers, staff, and parents. On behalf of the whole school, we’d like to thank everyone for their efforts in preparing students and helping them rehearse, creating costumes, and the many other roles that made the evening a success.
Special thanks must go to:
- Angeline Vrettis, The Arts teacher who was the creative genius behind the music, dance sequences, and costume concepts.
- Danni Mattiazzo, who wrote the script, helped with auditions for the acting parts, prepared the students and made props. She also helped backstage during the concert.
- Natasha Guse, who coordinated the concert and worked behind the scenes to make this event successful.
- George Mamouzellos, who created the slideshow that was presented to parents at the end of the concert.

Raising the bar
From our 2012 production of The Wizard of Oz being hosted on the school netball courts to 2022’s A Night at the Museum extravaganza at the Darwin Entertainment Centre, Larrakeyah Primary is always looking to innovate and raise the bar. In 2023, we hope to enhance our school production in partnership with Leeds International School in Singapore. Through remote collaboration, we’re excited to explore the possibilities of students from Leeds joining future productions virtually through new media technologies.
