Culture Connect Program at Larrakeyah Primary School
At Larrakeyah Primary School, we believe that understanding, respect, and empathy are essential for building a strong and inclusive community. Culture Connect is a program designed to help students explore identity, belonging, diversity and fairness in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Through discussions, storytelling, videos and interactive activities, students learn about important topics such as stereotypes, empathy and how racism can affect individuals and communities. The program encourages students to reflect on their own identity, appreciate cultural differences and recognise the many things we share in common.
Throughout the program, students participate in collaborative activities that build empathy and understanding. They learn how to recognise unfair treatment, challenge stereotypes and respond respectfully when they see or experience racism. Students are encouraged to become “upstanders”, people who speak up, support others and help create a welcoming environment for everyone.
Culture Connect also helps students develop important life skills including communication, collaboration, critical thinking and respect for diversity. By learning about different perspectives and experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of what it means to belong and how they can contribute positively to their community.
At Larrakeyah, Culture Connect supports our commitment to creating a school where every student feels safe, valued and proud of who they are.
