Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

At Larrakeyah Primary School, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing and personal development of every child. That’s why we have integrated the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (4Rs) program into our curriculum. This evidence-based framework is designed to teach children the social and emotional skills they need to build positive relationships, understand their rights and responsibilitiesand develop resilience in everyday life.

The 4Rs program helps students learn how to recognise and manage their emotions, show empathy, establish respectful friendships, and solve problems peacefully. Through age-appropriate lessons, discussions, role plays, and storytelling, children are encouraged to think critically about how they treat others and how they can make safe and respectful choices both in and out of school.

The program is broken up into 8 Topics which are below:

Topic 1 – Emotional Literacy

Topic 2 – Personal and Cultural Strength

Topic 3 – Positive Coping

Topic 4 – Problem-Solving

Topic 5 – Stress Management

Topic 6 – Help – Seeking

Topic 7 – Gender Norms and Stereotypes

Topic 8 – Positive Gender Relations

A key part of the program is teaching children about their rights—particularly the rights of all children to be safe, respected, and heard. We also focus on developing resilience by helping students understand how to manage challenges, bounce back from setbacks, and seek help when needed. These are lifelong skills that support mental health, learning, and personal growth.

Each teacher at Larrakeyah focuses on embedding the 4Rs across all year levels, where we create a culture of respect, inclusion, and empowerment in our school community.
