Cambridge School

Larrakeyah Primary School is proud to be Northern Territory's first and only Public Cambridge School

Welcome to Cambridge from Cambridge Schools on Vimeo.

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) prepares school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning. CIE is part of Cambridge Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. Its international qualifications are recognised by the world’s best universities and employers, giving students a wide range of options in their education and career. As a not-for-profit organisation, CIE devote their resources to delivering high-quality educational programmes that can unlock learners’ potential.

The Cambridge approach supports schools to develop learners who are:

Confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others.

Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others.

Reflective and developing their ability to learn.

Innovative and equipped for new and future challenges.

Engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference.

Cambridge at Larrakeyah

In 2016 Larrakeyah Primary School was accredited as a Cambridge International School, following a successful school assessment visit by Cambridge. We join more than 10,000 Cambridge schools in over 160 countries worldwide, and Larrakeyah Primary is the first NT government school to be granted this status by Cambridge International Examinations. Our teachers now have access to the Cambridge resources and use the Cambridge Curriculum to support the Australian Curriculum in the English area.

Benefits for your child

Cambridge Primary is a great place to start the learning journey. Cambridge Primary enables learners to build their knowledge and skills progressively, through each year of the programme. It is an excellent preparation for Cambridge Secondary 1, and for progression to other educational systems. A number of progression tests are built into the Cambridge Primary programme, which enable teachers to assess your child’s progress at each stage. Short progression tests are a valuable way for you and your school to understand your child’s strengths, and identify areas where more help is required. The emphasis of the tests is on showing where your child is on their learning journey, rather than getting right or wrong answers. Cambridge Primary Checkpoint is an optional test for learners in the final year of Cambridge Primary and is available in English, mathematics and science. The tests are marked in Cambridge. Your child will receive a statement of achievement after completing Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and you will receive detailed feedback on your child’s performance.

A global learning community

With a Cambridge programme, your child is joining a community of learners from more than 10 000 schools in over 160 countries. We have created our programmes and qualifications for students worldwide but we make sure there is plenty of space for local content too.

Distance does not create a barrier between Cambridge learners around the world. Our online communities bring schools and learners together to discuss their projects and activities. By developing a global outlook in Cambridge learners, we aim to equip them for success in the fast-changing modern world.
