Propagation, Rejuvenation and Sustainability!

These are the key concepts for our YR5/6's in term 3. We are working towards holding a plant sale to raise funds for the cooking and gardening program which will be held near the end of this term. This means one of the learning intentions this term will be looking at the different ways to propagate plants so we have plenty to sell! YR5/6 Telly have started this week with Caladium tubers. Each class will also be assigned a part of the garden to rejuvenate. This will involve classes working closely in their teams applying their knowledge of plants and utilizing their imaginations and their problem solving skills to come up with an agreed plan that they will action by the end of this term.

The three areas we are targeting are; The ornamental garden beds next to the Art room, the banana grove and our composting system, so watch this space! A letter will be going out this week to all families of students involved in the program this term asking for $20 contribution which helps to cover cost of ingredients and renewal of some of the garden equipment as well as resources required for new project work.

Many Thanks in advance for your support. As part of one of our projects we are in need of six wooden pallets, I am appealing to the Larrakeyah community for any donations.

Warmest Regards Emily Tutty
