Department of Education Strategic Plan 2016 - 2018 "Growing Success Together"
The Department of Education Strategic Plan 2016-2018, Growing Success Together, provides a shared understanding of our values, goals, strategies and key actions to support our vision for young Territorians to be confident and capable global citizens. It helps families, communities and our other stakeholders know what they can expect from us and it measures our performance and guides our business planning processes both corporately and in our schools.
Over the past two years, The Department has set some great foundations and delivered notable progress particularly in the areas of providing flexible high quality programs to all students; implementing the National Quality Framework for quality early childhood education; embedding the Australian curriculum in schools; reform of the Education Act; greater school autonomy through the introduction of global school budgets; establishment of the first six independent public schools; review of the middle years of schooling; attracting quality staff and developing the capabilities of leaders; and development of A share in the future – Indigenous Education Strategy 2015-2024 and the International Education and Training Strategy.
The 2016-2018 strategic plan builds on this work and focuses their efforts for the next three years with an emphasis on implementing key strategies, policy initiatives and programs that have been developed. It represents a higher level of ambition and a determination to continue to grow their success and to continue to provide children in the Northern Territory with the learning opportunities they deserve.
The 2016-2018 strategic plan represents the Departments perseverance to providing a high quality education and improving the opportunities in education from birth through to adulthood to achieve the best possible educational and emotional outcomes, and pathways for all children and young people in the Northern Territory.
